Roasted cauliflower steaks with mustard, sage and tempeh bacon

Roasted cauliflower steaks with mustard, sage and tempeh bacon

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Cover a baking sheet with baking paper.

Step 2

Cut the cauliflower vertically into slices 1 to 1.5 cm thick. Also use the loose florets.

Step 3

Gently rub the cauliflower slices with mustard and place them on the baking sheet. Sprinkle with chopped sage and season with salt and pepper. Then drizzle olive oil over them.

Step 4

Mix the strips of tempeh with some olive oil and spread them on the baking sheet as well.

Step 5

Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 25 minutes until the cauliflower is tender and the edges of the cauliflower and tempeh bacon start to turn golden brown.

Step 6

Meanwhile, heat the Pa’lais Cuisine – Bechamel in a small saucepan.

Step 7

Remove the baking sheet from the oven and serve with a spoonful of Pa’lais Cuisine – Bechamel.

Tip

No sage in the house? Also delicious with oregano and nutmeg!

1 small cauliflower (or half a large one)

3 to 4 tbsp mild (grain) mustard

2 handfuls of sage leaves, finely chopped

1/2 cup of Pa’lais Cuisine – Bechamel + extra

1 packet tempeh bacon, in strips

Olive oil, pepper and salt
